Book Review: The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors

Title: The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors

Author: Drew Daywalt
Illustrator: Adam Rex
Series: None

Genre: Picture Book
Audience: Ages 4-8
Release Date: April 4, 2017

This book reminds me of: The clever use of humor and interesting story perspective remind me of the Bad Seed by John Jory, illustrated by Pete Oswald.

Content: One instance of the word butt and some underwear on a clothesline.

The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors is a fun, laugh-out-loud story packed with action. Colorful and exciting illustrations paired with creative font change ups bring the legend and its epic warriors to life. I loved reading this book, especially the battle with the apricot and the frozen dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. Highly recommended for those who love action with humor, and don’t mind a butt joke.

I hope you’re wearing your BATTLE PANTS!

You’ve played the game. Now read the legend of the three great warriors who started it all . . . Rock, Paper, Scissors!

  1. This looks terrific and is a new title to me. What a fun way to show “rock, paper, scissors”! It’s a unique way to show the legend! Thanks!
