Keagan’s Review of “Light of Mine” by Allen Brokken

This is a book review written by my thirteen-year-old son, Keagan. It has been published with his permission.

Light of Mine is a Christan novel. It’s aimed at middle-grade readers, and features three fictitious, light-based tools, creatures that have been blessed by God, and a family devoted to God.

The main characters are Lauren, Aiden, and Ethan. Their father disappeared when he went out to make weapons for the Mighty Mercenaries, and their mother was captured when she went looking for him. Their goal is to stop the darkness from spreading and to find their parents. Meanwhile, the Dark one and his pawns try to stop them. Lauren, Aiden, and Ethan must ignite the Towers of Light before the darkness covers all of Zoura.

Light of Mine made me feel more aware of how sin (the darkness) works in our world, like I should be cautious wherever I am, and to put my faith into God alone. God is the only constant source of love, strength, and righteousness, He is always faithful.

I recommend Light of Mine to those who are looking for an adventurous and imaginative story of faith.

Light of Mine is available on Amazon.

About Light of Mine

Darkness is spreading through Zoura.

Beyond the borders of the heathlands, innocent animals are being turned into monsters, and good men into pawns of the Dark One.

Father has vanished after joining the Mighty Mercenaries and mother has gone missing in search of him.

Alone on the farm, twelve-year-old Lauren and her brave little brothers, Aiden and Ethan, must guard the Tower of Light that will guide both parentshome.

But when a hooded stranger is caught trespassing the farm, a new bishop claims the church, and confusion pervades their close-knit community, will the children be able to recognize who is a threat to the Tower and who is there to help them protect it?

With little else but the aid of a trio of blessed pets, three mysterious weapons, and their growing faith, Lauren, Aiden, and Ethan find it is up to them to stop the agents of The Dark One from putting out the Light and dooming the heathlands to Darkness.
